It vibrates, it keeps you away from your phone for as long as possible, it let’s you drive safer, it notifies you when you needed it the most and best of all, it makes you feel like you are not waiting and wasting your time at all. No, I’m not describing some crazy high-tech AI or the latest self-help book by Dr. Phil. This my friends, is CareAce.net’s latest Samsung WinMo patch, the Connecting Notifier.

Just like Jeff Bezos from Amazon, we are obssessed over our readers (You!), we love to invent to help our readers and we’d like to think long-term with the service that we will provide. And that’s how the Connecting Notifier for Samsung’s mobile devices was born.

The Connecting Notifier will output a short vibration each time your outgoing call gets picked up. No longer are the days where you have to hold up the phone to your ear while waiting for calls to connect. Benefits? There is plenty. Cost? It’s free to download and only takes up 8 Kb on your storage.

The Connecting Notifier is available for both the Samsung PocketPCs and Smartphones including the Omnia, Epix, Blackjack II, Jack and Propel Pro. And now, the moment you’ve been waiting for, the list of benefits that you can gain from this application:

• Health: reduce chance of damage to the brain from excessive radiation
• Safety: Allows you to keep your hands on 10 and 2 until you have to pick up the phone
• Etiquette: In a meeting and making an emergency call? Only pick up the phone when its connected!

This is a quick tip for users who are looking to increase the strength of notification vibrations. On your device, go to Start > Settings > Personal > Vibration > Call Alert and you should see a meter with 5 levels of vibration strength. You can make adjustments for touchscreen feedback or Call Alert response.

Is the vibration on your device too strong or too weak? Use this gauge to adjust its strength according to your needs.

If you like having your BlackJack vibrate after receiving text messages, yet wish it would vibrate for longer, then the following registry tweak will help you change the duration your phone vibrates after receiving a SMS.

Note:  Your BlackJack has to be application unlocked beforehand.  Also, you should always backup your registry before attempting to modify it as editing your registry can bring unwanted changes.  If you are using PHM Registry Editor go to Menu>Tools>Backup to make a backup.

   1.  Using a registry editor (such as PHM), navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\SMS.  You will see a blank screen like below if using PHM.

 

    2.  Press the left soft key to view Values instead of Keys.  

 

  

 

    3.  Now you want to create a new string value named Script with value data v#, with # being the time in seconds you want your phone to vibrate.  To do this in PHM, press the right soft key for Menu, go to New Value at the top of the screen, and select String on the left.  Enter the name and data for this new value.  For example, if you want it to vibrate for 5 seconds, enter v5 in value data.

  

Now your phone should be set up to vibrate your specified length when a text message is received.
