At the CTIA 2010 next week, Samsung will be holding the ‘Samsung Application Challenge’ event at Samsung Mobile booth. There will be 16 applications competing for the best mobile application title. The winner will win a trip to Korea and tour the headquarter of Samsung.

The winner will be chosen by the number of votes received during the event.

Samsung App Store enlarges its territory to German, China, Singapore, and Brazil. It has been available in UK. France, and Italy since September last year.

Now They added 36 Samsung App Challenge award winners including DialerAce 3D and plan to distribute to Samsung Omnia users for free until end of April. 2010.

A Samsung Kies software suite has been mad available, providing access to applications directly from a PC you can download it via the Samsung app store.

Samsung Application Store Development Challenge winners has been finally been selected and announced. The awarded apps are going to be distributed through Samsung application store starting from Dec. 25. 2009 for free until end of April. 2010.

With the latest Samsung SDK release by Samsung Mobile Innovator, we are going to take a look at what we can do with the tools provided.

Using the 3D Orientation API from Samsung SDK 2.0 (or later), we have developed a simple compass, with the red needle pointing north and the blue needle pointing south.

The provided API made it easy to put together this application. Here are some of the source code for the application:

With the 3D Orientation API, I can get various values to estimate the relative position of a phone in the 3D space, and one of them is Heading value.

The value of Heading, yaw or azimuth angle, starts at 0 when the phone is facing magnetic north, and increases as the phone is turned clockwise. Using this value, the compass application calculates the north and draws needle pointing towards it.

With this program, no matter which direction your phone is facing, the red part of needle will always point north.

It has been tested!. From the focus group test conducted, DialerAce has over 87% success rate in showing your next calls on the first DialerAce page.

How does it work?

DialerAce, through its algorithm, actively recommends your next call based on your tendencies, habits, upcoming events and other information, such as birthday and anniversary.

The goal is to make dialing easier. Without going through your ever-growing contact list, users are provided with a list of contacts that one may call. Capable of generating 32 contacts spread out in 4 pages, you no longer have to manually choose and select contacts as your favorite, they are added automatically!
