Samsung officially unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S IV on March 14th, and it looks like we already have two solid dates regarding the official carrier releases of this magnificent device.
T-Mobile held its own major event, “UNcarrier,” at which they announced their move to remove the “bullsh*t” from wireless device pricing. T-Mobile also announced that they would be carrying Samsung’ latest flagship starting May 1st. The Galaxy S IV will be compatible with T-Mobile’s LTE network upon launch, which is currently live in 7 U.S. cities. Although T-Mobile didn’t mention a specific price point for the GS4, the iPhoen 5 which was also announced at the event was tagged at 99$ with a $20 per month payments. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a similar option for the GS4 on T-Mobile.
AT&T on the other hand has announced a pre-order date of April 16th, which is sooner than the release date of T-Mobile by 2 weeks, but also doesn’t provide much insight as to an actual release date. AT&T’s Galaxy S IV will have a pricing plan, however it will follow the traditional pricing model included with a 2 year contract: $249.99.
It will be interesting to see how the new T-Mobile pricing model compete’s with the traditional pricing plans of the other 3 major carriers. While there isn’t any news regarding a Sprint or Verizon launch date, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a launch in May as well. Stay tuned for more info regarding the Galaxy S IV and it’s American debut!
