Tip: Where did Android Market Go? Google Play on the Galaxy Honeycomb

If you haven’t been living under a rock, you probably noticed that the new iPad was announced the other day and more importantly, that Google market is no more. More specifically, it has been supplanted by Google Play-the one stop shop for all the content Google offers be it apps, music, movies or books.

Essentially, Google Play is a rube goldberg machine jammed into an old suitcase. Wait nevermind, that’s just a metaphor for what it actually is–a unified, cross platform market for all of Google’s content.

Say goodbye to Andy the Android on the Android Market shopping bag icon, for now it has been replaced by the universally used play button icon on that sam shopping bag. R.I.P. Andy.

Luckily it shouldn’t be too difficult to locate the new market. Simply pop open the apps section in the top right of your tablet, and the look for the “Play Store” or just the Market icon in the top right. Now you can find the market is divided into 4 main categories with all the content you can enjoy: apps, books, movies, music.

Yeah it was real nice to be notified of this change before it happened. NOT! I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out wth happened to the market. Until now, I hadn’t found any explanation online either. It was pure dumb luck that I found the new market. Google sux. Big time.

I didn’t get an updates on my Galaxy Tab 10.1. Which sucks because the Galaxy Tab version of Android Market, well, sucks. It also doesn’t show up as an update or in search results.

Do I need to do something special to get Google Play?
