The Galaxy S II’s stadard 1650 mAh is certainly no slouch, but for those of you power users who demand the utmost performance from your Galaxy S II all day long, Samsung has released a new 2000 mAh battery pack.
User xeq544 over at the XDA forums recently got his hands on the new Samsung battery pack and initial reports seem to be quite positive. Being an OEM accessory, it’s very clear that Samsung has put some thought into the design of the new battery/back plate as it still lives up to the Galaxy S II’s rigorous standards of sleekness. You guys may remember the HTC Thunderbolt’s battery life fiasco and the ensuing extended battery solution:
Samsung’s battery boost may not be quite as drastic as the Thunderbolt’s (1400 mAh > 2750 mAh) but the post-op is so much more elegant and practical. Rather than creating a hideous and pocket bulging hump as seen above, Samsung’s 2000 mAh battery pack remains flush with the back casing, adding only a millimeter of thickness to the device’s already scant bodywork.
The extended battery is only 23.00 EUR or about 34 USD, so it’s quite affordable. Unfortunately it appears that the retailer that the original poster bought the case from doesn’t ship internationally, so we’ll have to wait a while before we can get our grubby hands on it. Come to think of it, we don’t even have the Galaxy S II, /sadpanda.
