Just yesterday we caught wind of a new case for the Tab 10.1 that bore an uncanny resemblance to a certain Apple product:
We speculated that it was unlikely that Samsung would have let such a plagiarifc product pass their inspection without saying a word, and today we received that word:
As a general practice, Samsung Electronics reviews and approves all accessories produced by partners before they are given the “Designed for Samsung Mobile” mark.
For the sake of posterity, Samsung has also noted that the product has been removed from the Anymode website and that none of the cases were actually sold. Judging by the quick and decisive action it looks like Samsung doesn’t want to push anymore of Apple’s buttons than it needs to — Anymode might want to take that same advice towards Samsung.
I’m curious to see if Apple will have any official statements regarding this event seeing as how there has been evidence brought up regarding the originality of their own smart cover. We’ll keep you up to date with any new findings!
