Next version of Android to be called “Ice Cream”

by P.Schmitz on October 15, 2010

So it looks like the next next next version of Android was leaked by ARM’s President Tudor Brown to Elizabeth Woyke at Forbes.  It seems Google has confirmed that Gingerbread will be version 3.0 and Honeycomb will be version 3.5 (where was I when they confirmed this??) which means Ice Cream will most likely be Android 4.0 when it is released some time in the middle of next year.  Obviously no word yet on what kind of details or upgrades Ice Cream will entail, but exciting news none the less.  So would you have picked the name Ice Cream for the next next next version of Android or some other dessert that begins with “I”?  Let us know in the comments.

I would have picked another name, don’t get wrong, its cute but I would suggest something like Goliath. When you think Goliath you think of someone with strength besides if our kids hear us say Ice Cream Sandwich that could get us is trouble and then might end up driving to the nearest store for an actual Ice Cream Sandwich. =-)
