How to use Write and Go on Samsung Galaxy S

Posted on Jun 23 2010 - 4:32pm by Flux

The Samsung Galaxy S is to be an ultimate companion for your on-the-go life.  There are many features in this phone to play media and view information effectively.  The ease of inputting information is easy as well.  The Galaxy S has an application called “Write and Go” to take any notes down and quickly do something to it such as updating your Twitter or creating a calendar event.  This changes the perception of input in the past where you need to decide where to save the note before writing anything down.  “Write and Go”  is far better than “Plan Save Point, Write, Save”.

Below is a walk-through of 3 options:

a) send a message

b) save as event or memo

c) update status.

a) Write a message and press “Send message”

b) You can press “Save”…

… To save as an event in Calendar or a Memo.

c) Update Status

You might have one status to update such as “Update to Twitter”.  If you had more than one SNS account setup, the button would be “Update status” to pop-up your accounts you wish to apply to.

I wrote a note on write and go and saved it. How do I find it?

  16. Martin March 30, 2011 at 3:26 pm -

Sharon>>> That’s what I ment. The app is already “preinstalled” (but not enabled), that’s how I managed to reinstall it here. I wasn’t totally clear about this in my previous answer, sorry. Anyway, I’m glad for you :)

  17. Brian March 30, 2011 at 2:08 pm -

@Sharon Glad you found the program again and that this article could be of help!

  18. Sharon March 30, 2011 at 6:25 am -

    YIPPEE!!!
Found it, it was in the apps that were already on the phone. Looks like it comes with the phone now. I’m happy.

  19. Sharon March 30, 2011 at 6:20 am -

Don’t suppose there’s a way of attaching it to a text and sending it to me, is there? Don’t know if there’s a way of backing apps up onto my pc for the future. Haven’t found one so far.

  20. Sharon March 30, 2011 at 5:08 am -

New phone Martin, so nothing in programs. I’m gutted. Don’t have great eyesight and need that bigger writing pad.

  21. Martin March 30, 2011 at 4:33 am -

Sharon>>> No, I couldn’t find it either. Luckily it was still in programs. Check there and good luck.

  22. Sharon March 30, 2011 at 4:25 am -

I had Write & Go on my old Samsung Galaxy phone but the phone went wrong and I got a new one today. Trying to find Write & Go in the Android market but can’t find it. Is it still there?

  23. Martin March 26, 2011 at 1:18 pm -

Leilo, try un- and reinstall again, and if that doesn’t help check your FB/Twitter security options. This application seems a bit unsteady at times. Still I can’t figure out why it doesn’t appear in your feeds if you’re signed in and all…

  24. Lelio March 24, 2011 at 12:55 pm -

I’ve been trying this out for a few weeks and whenever I hit update status it says it’s been done but doesn’t appear in my FB/twitter feed. I’m signed in correctly hut can’t figure out why it’s happening.

  25. Martin March 23, 2011 at 7:43 am -

Hi Samir. I did something similar the other day, kind of. I moved item to trashbin and then went to programs/Write & Go and reinstalled. Worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip anyway :)

  26. Samir March 21, 2011 at 6:43 pm -

I had to reset my device back to factory defaults and reinstall all user added applications. I left some applications out, which might have been the offending ones. I hope this helps.

  27. Martin March 19, 2011 at 3:35 pm -

What Samir just wrote. “Write & Go” stopped working on my Galaxy S too. Dunno what’s wrong, any ideas?

  28. Samir February 22, 2011 at 11:25 am -

When I first got my Samsung Galaxy S (two weeks ago), “Write and Go” worked. I was trying to use it about a week ago and it comes back with an error (after it vibrates a couple of time and shows a black screen). The error says “Sorry! The application Write and Go (process com.sec.android.app.writeandgo) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

Any ideas on how I can get it working again. Thanks.

    Dear ACR,

Thanks for the tip. Its unfortunate that you have to go through that much trouble in order to circumvent this problem. If anyone else is considering doing this then I would recommend checking out the Hard Reset section of our post here http://www.careace.net/2010/12/21/14-tips-how-to-restore-galaxy-s-out-of-the-box-speed/ which details how to backup all your information.

  30. acr January 9, 2011 at 3:29 pm -

Update- I finally found a way to disconnect from Facebook with the Write and Go app. That’s to just go to the Captivate’s privacy settings and reset to factory settings on everything. Most of your data will be wiped, but that’s the only way to get Write and Go disconnected from Facebook. Well unless you root your phone and just uninstall the app. That was my next move had the reset not worked.

  31. acr January 5, 2011 at 8:31 pm -

Correction. Changing your password does not work. I had to also change my facebook app password. I then go to the “write and go” app and type something and click “update to facebook” and then check my facebook status on my desktop. The update from the write and go is now on my status on facebook. Apparently the write and go app somehow works through the facebook app as it was able to determine my changed password without me putting that info into the write and go app. This is just rediculous. Time to share my thoughts on as many blogs as I can find about this. I can think of at least 20. This write and go app needs to just go.

Now I figure this site will go ahead and delete this post to preserve the entire creepiness of this experience. I’ll take a screen shot and post this message on other blogs just in case.

  32. acr January 5, 2011 at 8:09 pm -

This app cannot be signed out of facebook by the way Iris describes. I had to change my password while my phone was off in order to disconnect write and go from my facebook account. This is just too creepy for me. I disable all sign in locations in my fabebook account AND LOG OUT OF FACEBOOK and write and go STILL signs in to my facebook and writes to my status. This is complete nonsense from AT&T. This is a horrible app with horrible privacy and is way too creepy as it’s able to circumvent the facebook privacy settings.

I’m rooting my phone to get rid of this AT&T crapware. Hell it probably connects to some remote IP in China for all that matters.

How do I sign out of facebook? There appears to be no setting to sign out.

  34. Sigi December 23, 2010 at 7:51 am -

nice tool but there should only be one button “Go” instead of 3 buttons!

Hi, I was playing around the phone, which is my brother’s, checking out features. I was using the Write and Go app, and signed in to facebook within this app to test out the update status thing. So, since it’s not my phone I wanted to sign out. But I’ve already figured it out, it’s under Settings > Accounts and Sync, where I can remove the account. Still, thanks for replying.

  37. P.Schmitz September 27, 2010 at 10:08 pm -

    Dear Iris,

What do you mean log out of the accounts? Are you trying to switch users? Or are you trying to do it for a different reason? Thanks for the question.

  38. Iris September 27, 2010 at 7:28 pm -

Hi, do you know how to log out of the facebook/twitter accounts in this app? I can’t seem to find an option.

  39. Greg September 25, 2010 at 11:04 pm -

If you go into applications you’ll find one called memo. You will see your saved memos there.

  40. P.Schmitz September 23, 2010 at 11:21 am -

    Dear Mike,

You should take a look at our ultimate end all guide to kies, and in there is a short review of an app called evernote. That has voice recorded memos, regular text memos, picture memos, and it syncs with a free online service as well. Let me know if you like it!

  41. Mike September 23, 2010 at 11:19 am -

Thank you for your reply, Write & Go came with and is installed on my Verizon Galaxy. I love to use the mic. It should be called “Talk & Go”! Still have the same problem. When I touch “Save in MEMO”, the program shuts down – exits. Bringing it up again provides no way that I can find to retrieve the saved MEMOS. Can’t really use it. Thank you in advance for any help.

  42. P.Schmitz September 22, 2010 at 3:30 pm -

    Dear Wilfer and Mike,

Unfortunately for now it is only available on a few different phones, but you can do a google search for “write and go” apk download, see if you can find the .apk for write and go, and then use our guide on this site to install that over your usb cable with the Android SDK.

No Write and Go on the Samsung Epic 4G? Where and how can I download?

  44. mike September 22, 2010 at 12:18 pm -

I save in MEMO. Where, how – do I retrieve my saved notes.
