Samsung Beam debuts in Singapore as the first Android-based pico projector phone

Formally called Samsung Halo, Samsung has announced that their Galaxy Beam handset is headed to first launch in Singapore in July.  Pico projector were a big thing earlier this year but has not hit mainstream yet.  Will Samsung usher this under an Android-based phone?  Might be good for video conferencing… Here are the following specifications:

  • Dimensions: 123.7×59.8×14.9mm, 155 grams
  • Network: Quad-band GSM and tri-band 3G
  • OS: Android 2.1
  • Display: 3.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display
  • Integrated Pico-projector capable of displaying content in VGA resolution (640×480)
  • Camera: 8 megapixel with HD video recording support
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, TV-out
  • Multimedia: Music and Video Player supporting DivX/Xvid, WMV playback, FM Radio
  • Memory: 4Gb + 2Gb + 1Gb + 16Gb MoviNAND, expandable via microSD
  • Battery: 1800mAh
  • Talk time: 7 hours (3G)
  • Standby time: 530 hours (3G)
  • Price and Availability: Not yet planned for the Nordic region
