We’ve gazed into the crystal ball to see what the future holds in TV shows and movies. Tricorders, flat screens, portable phones, touch screens, gesture sensitive input and warp speed… oh my! Surprisingly within our generation: flat screens are a given standard, cell phones are a college student necessity and iPad (and coming S-pad) are being developed as a useful tool. And now Tony Stark in Iron Man 2 whipped out his translucent smartphone. Is that even feasible?
Back in January, Samsung showed off its Samsung IceTouch MP3 (video) that has a translucent AMOLED touchscreen at CES 2010. Engadget also reported a “14-inch display still translucent OLED” as well.
So it is only a matter of time… this translucent ability is not as far off as warp speed… or is it?
UPDATE (5/25/10): Samsung showcases world’s largest 19-inch transparent AMOLED screen. Read all about it! Translucent ability has arrived.
