Video Overview: Opera Mobile 10 vs. SkyFire 1.5

With the latest release of SkyFire 1.5, we now have two highly-capable and versatile mobile browser that includes the Opera Mobile 10 beta.

Both browsers are unique from one another and have complimentary features, such as support for Flash or Silverlight, and tab-based browsing.

In the video below, we are going to take a look at the basic UI, controls, settings and loading speed on both of the mobile browsers.

Despite the remodeled UI, SkyFire still seem to be a notch down from the slick looking Opera Mobile 10. Nonetheless, SkyFire’s loading speed is seconds ahead of Opera Mobile 10, which in the world of mobile browser means a lot.

One thing to note about the SkyFire 1.5 is the lack of Stop button. Once a page is clicked and loading, there is no way to stop it other than going to a different URL.

However, as we first said, both mobile browsers have features that compliments one another. Now, which browser do you prefer?

You should definitely turn on Opera Turbo for a more apples to apples comparison. Skyfire uses servers to pre-process pages, as does Opera Mobile when Opera Turbo is enabled. This would give a more accurate measure of top speed between the browsers.
