Verizon Samsung Omnia II vs. Omnia II
Verizon’s Samsung Omnia II (i920) is bound to hit the shelves come next Wednesday on December 2. While other regions of the world had been using their Omnia II (i8000) for nearly half-a-year now, it is important to note that the two Omnia IIs are actually a little different.
Despite the shared codename of Omnia II, they are divided when it comes to product code. The i8000 is the device that is already populating Asia and Europe, while Verizon’s i920 is up for grabs during this year’s holiday season.
So, what are the differences? We’ve dug a little deeper and took a look at the differences and similarities that the Omnia II twins share.

Similarities between SGH-i920 and GT-i8000
Despite the list of differences, the core of the 2 devices are still very much the same. Here is a list of the main features that you may find on both devices:
- 3.7″ AMOLED Touchscreen Display (Widescreen)
- Opera Browser Installed
- 3D Task Manager
- 8GB of Internal Memory
- 5 megapixel camera with LED flashlight
Some of them are pretty standard in today’s smartphones, we do want to highlight the AMOLED display and 8GB internal memory – both are outstanding offer and should elevate user experiences.
Conclusion: Thoughts on the differences.
Rather than feeling neglected or excluded, it seems like the Verizon’s Samsung Omnia II is packed with a little more goodies than the GT-i8000 released in the rest of the world. If your Verizon’s contract is coming to an end, this phone could be your new phone for 2010. And at a price of $200 (after rebate), it is priced rather fairly.
What do you think? Does the difference in the two versions matter to you?

For those who are into pictures, the i8000 has 8mp camera vs. the i920’s 5mp.
Both of them has same 5MP camera.
There is no secondary camera on the SCH-I920 (Verizon Omnia 2) like in the GT-I8000 (Omnia 2). Instead there’s a led indicator for various events.
My I8000 came with WinMo 6.5 and a stylus. It would have been nice to have the LED indicator though.
Just an update, I got mine free with my 2 year renewal today, otherwise it’s $199.
