Today, 3 sneak peeks of the Windows Phone was posted addressing the Start screen, Lock screen as well as the new Mobile Internet Explorer.

The New Lock Screen
The new lock screen on Windows Mobile 6.5 does not only allow you to lock and unlock you device. It also let’s you to jump right into applications such as messaging or phones if notifications of missed items are available.
As you can see from the screenshot below, you can activate either Voicemail, log of Missed Call or Messages by sliding left or right on the locked screen. This way, you are basically simplifying the 3 steps that it may take you to access these information down to just one: Slide.

Windows Mobile 6.5 Start Screen
From the earlier honeycomb days, the Start Screen has gone through a face-lift both in its appearance and functionality. The latest change involves the ability to rearrange icons in the menu.
Other improved areas include the response of pressing the Start button, more visually aesthetic appearance, better finger-gestures and more.

The New Internet Explorer Mobile
And lastly, the new Internet Explorer mobile promises to provide unparallel browsing experience as you would have on the PC. Supporting that statement is the new rendering engine that comes with the finger-friendly user interface, support for Adobe Flash (not just Flash Lite), AJAX as well as web-based application such as Facebook and Online Banking.
This ought to be good news for mobile user who have been stuck with dumbed-down mobile sites, diminishing any trace of rich browsing experience.

What does all of these means?
User induced improvement. From closed doors, the software giant battling on lost grounds have been opening up more to user inputs. While not quite associated with the words “top-notch” or “impressive”, the Windows Mobile 6.5 does bring hope to the fighting platform.
Making a user’s life simpler despite the inevitable complexity in life and work, Windows Mobile should be working as the catalyst to productivity rather than an obstruction. It all comes down to this: if the mass market can’t use the product, it will not sell. With the October 6th’s launch fast approaching, we will find out if this will be a successful mobile platform.
