From the developer that brought you MobilePad, GooSMS is not some gooey prank that you play with the Windows Mobile device. GooSMS is the abbrevation given for Google SMS, a service provided by Google to provide information through text message. Rather than trying to memorize all the keywords for searching, the application provides its own UI that aim to simplify the communication with Google SMS.

There a few things to note before using the service so you don’t ramp up with way too much text messaging charges:

1. text messaging requires text messaging plan, otherwise, text message fee will apply according to your carrier.
2. Before purchasing, make sure that Google SMS Service is available in your area. The default setting of the app is for Google SMS Service in the United States of America.
3. To change the default Google SMS Service number, while the app is running, select “Menu” -> “Change Google SMS #”, then enter in the Google SMS Service number in your area.

Priced at USD$7.50 to get the serial number, it may deter some casual users. Nonetheless, if information is what you need, and subscribing to a data plan with your service provider is not something you want, then this one-time fee might be totally worth it.
