Updated 8/18/2009: Thank you to all who have downloaded and try this application! We are now releasing this application to non-registered users. Thank you again for your support. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

It vibrates, it keeps you away from your phone for as long as possible, it let’s you drive safer, it notifies you when you needed it the most and best of all, it makes you feel like you are not waiting and wasting your time at all. No, I’m not describing some crazy high-tech AI or the latest self-help book by Dr. Phil. This my friends, is CareAce.net’s latest Samsung WinMo patch, the Connecting Notifier.

Just like Jeff Bezos from Amazon, we are obssessed over our readers (You!), we love to invent to help our readers and we’d like to think long-term with the service that we will provide. And that’s how the Connecting Notifier for Samsung’s mobile devices was born.

The Connecting Notifier will output a short vibration each time your outgoing call gets picked up. No longer are the days where you have to hold up the phone to your ear while waiting for calls to connect. Benefits? There is plenty. Cost? It’s free to download and only takes up 8 Kb on your storage.

The Connecting Notifier is available for both the Samsung PocketPCs and Smartphones including the Omnia, Epix, Blackjack II, Jack and Propel Pro. And now, the moment you’ve been waiting for, the list of benefits that you can gain from this application:

  • Health: reduce chance of damage to the brain from excessive radiation
  • Safety: Allows you to keep your hands on 10 and 2 until you have to pick up the phone
  • Etiquette: In a meeting and making an emergency call? Only pick up the phone when its connected!
  • Finance: People say time is money, the days of waiting for calls to connect is over! Now you have time to finish your twitter posting (Go @careace!)

Installation

After you have registered and download the cab file, simply transfer it onto your mobile device. When prompt, please install the application on your Device and not the Storage. Once you’re done, perform soft reset for the effect to kick in. You can test it by calling your voice mail service.

Should I get it?

Yes! This patch is made specially for you. With the listing of benefits above, I don’t see why anyone won’t want to have it.

Known issue

Except for the Samsung Omnia, the vibration produced from the application may produce a vibrating noise to the receiver side. This is mainly due to the positioning of the vibration motor, which is placed near the mic of the devices.

Yes, that’s how we roll. Yet sadly, we can’t even get the glass of water to produce a single ripple

Video

We have seen and heard the vibration but we just couldn’t get it to show on the glass of water. Do you have a better idea? Post it on YouTube and show us!

@Quider, thank you. We couldn’t test on Palm Treo Pro. If it is helpful to Palm users, it would be great too.

Tried it on my SonyEricsson Xperia X1. It works ok as described, but “vibrating noise to the receiver side” was clearly heard so I uninstalled it.

The HTC dialer I tried earlier had vibrate at connect too, but the vibration was shorter, just a signle “tap”. This one is too long and that produces a strong noise. So maybe you could make it shorter?

You should be able to give it a try. The application/patch should work on most pocket pc/smartphones that doesn’t already have this feature.

The reason for vibrating noise has to do with the position of the vibration motor which on your device seems to be near the mic where the noise will be transferred to the receiver. We may consider to reduce the length, but currently with time of vibration less than 1 second, we don’t want to reduce it casually and reduce the sensitivity of the vibration.

Yeap, but they are selling it for $10 bucks whilst Connecting Notifier is free to try. (:
(They do have the settings UI though. Connecting Notifier just works in the background, so it should be lighter on your system.)
