Hearing that song but just couldn’t recall the title? Samsung has partner with MELODIS Corporation to include Midomi, its music search and identification application in future Windows Mobile devices. What can it do? Next time when some tune come up and you are trying to figure out the song title and who sang it, simply pull out your Samsung WinMo device and ID the music.
“We are very pleased to partner with SAMSUNG to make our music search and ID technology available to Windows Mobile users,” said Amir Arbabi, vice president of Business Development, MELODIS. “Midomi is a truly global product designed for deployment in multiple languages and on multiple platforms. SAMSUNG’s launch of Midomi-enabled handsets represents the first step in what we see as a long-term, worldwide collaboration between our two companies.”
The core of this application is Midomi’s Sound2Sound Search Science technology, which MELODIS claims provides an improved accuracy, faster response time and increased scalability. We just thought that this is a very interesting prospect for Samsung smartphone users. It would be great if prior devices can receive an update with this application attached.
Currently MELODIS does not have their own music store to contemplate about providing music downloads for users using the application. Imagine this scenario:
- A user heard a song in the mall, loved it and want to find out the title and the artist who sang it
- Great! Pull out your Samsung WinMo device and launch Midomi
- With the help of Midomi, you’re finally able to find the song
- Wouldn’t it be great if you can buy it off a music store right from your phone?
In 4 simple steps, you will up and running with your new favorite tune. Of course, we are not quite there yet, but speculating the possibilities can be quite mind boggling as well.
