Media Centers centralize all your media content including music, pictures and videos. So rather than launching 3 different applications for each of the content type, you just need one. Windows Media Center for desktop PCs has been well received, but none have came up with a similar application for the mobile platform. The Mobile Media Center is a good example of what to expect.

The applications allows the viewing of 4 different types of contents:

  1. Music
  2. Pictures
  3. Videos
  4. Online (RSS)

Aside from #4, which is RSS that you can add at anytime, you can define which folders to scan for your music, pictures and audios individually. Some of the cool settings also include slideshows and  appearances which to be honest, does make Windows user feel at home.

Installation

If you simply click on the download link provided on the developer’s page, you will be brought to a expanding page of symbols that you don’t need to understand. That is the content of the cab file. For some reason, the developer seemed to have posted the contents of the cabinet file rather than uploading the cab file itself.

Solution? Simply right-click on the download link on the developer’s site and choose “Save as Link” (or anything similar for different browsers).

Note: You will need to go through the same process if you’re download through our site.

Once downloaded, you are free to install it at any of the device’s storage location.

Design

“I really like what you have done with this place…” is what I will say if this is a piece of a property and I am speaking to the owner. But this is not a piece of property, nor do I have the opportunity to speak with the ‘owner’.

The design is a replica of the Media Center on the Windows platform (both Vista and XP are available). The response from the button when clicked on is similar too. These can certainly compensate for the lack of originality in the layout of the Settings.

The simple layout is easy for users to get started. You have a list of the 4 content type follow by the Settings button that has a little break above it for separation. Clicking on either of these buttons will ring a pleasant sound. It feels good to be affirmed. The short response time is pleasing to know as well.

Each of the content type can be launched within the application using built-in players rather than having to open a separate application.

Usability

The Windows Media Center is used for entertainment and so can the Mobile Media Center developed by OAB Software. Store up some music, pictures and movie and you’re good to go for a show-and-tell session. The best part is how you can customize the look and feel, location of files and other settings in the application to what you want and they way you wanted it.

Features

  • Access to all 4 content type in one application
  • Allows for customizable settings
  • Plays Slideshow
  • Allows the reading of RSS

Pros

  • You can quickly access each of the content types without much delay
  • The pleasant design that as mentioned before, may make Windows users feel right at home
  • Advanced settings, including AVRCP (pairing with an audio device)

Cons

Not much to criticize here, this is good application that may see some limit posed by hardware. But other than that, it has potential to become a popular WinMo application.

Should I get it?

If you’re carrying around with you hundreds of pictures, dozens of song and videos, this is a great application to access them all and play them all in one place.
