That’s right, AZERTY as opposed to QWERTY.
No, we are not talking alien here, just plain old names for the keyboard layouts. While the regular QWERTY keyboard is used on most keyboards, there are population of users whose alliance is with the AZERTY layout. And for those users, there is a solution, one that can be found in a series of registry edits.
Objective
Changing the keyboard layout to AZERTY.
Applicable Device(s)
Samsung Omnia
What you need
Registry Editor (such as PHM) – Download it here.
Registry Address
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\XT9\Sip\KdbFiles
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\XT9\Sip\LayoutFiles
Value Name
- 19FF
- 09FF
Value Data
Be sure to enter the changes accordingly to both 19FF and 09FF on under both of the registry address:
For KdbFiles
- 19FF: Samsung_i900.Keyboard.Regional.Azerty.English.Landscape.kdb
- 09FF: Samsung_i900.Keyboard.Regional.Azerty.English.Portrait.kdb
For LayoutFiles
- 19FF: Samsung_i900.Keyboard.French.Landscape.xml
- 09FF: Samsung_i900.Keyboard.French.Portrait.xml
Note: You do need to perform a soft-reset to enable the change.
