Everyone can use a better note-taking application. And for the Omnia, it is important for the application to be both rich in its UI yet friendly in its navigation. AgileNotes has been on our radar for awhile, we were reluctant to write about it because it was not working on the Samsung Omnia. But now, we are happy to annouce the new release of AgileNotes 3.0 is finger-friendly and Omnia-friendly.

Installation

Since the application is not using any component from the device, installation on Storage should work fine.

Design

The buttons are generally pretty good-size for easy access. But we do have a bone to pick with the clarity of the designs for the application. While the design is certain fresh and clean-cut, some does not have a clear meaning to it which might be confusing to start with. Some of the examples include the 2 save buttons and the 2 write buttons. Otherwise, we do like how the developer uses its own design rather than simply leaning back to the Windows default.

Usability

AgileNotes is an application that if striped to its framework, a basic notepad with added feature like bullet points and coloring. You are also free to save it to either of the 3 formats available (TXT, RTF, and PWI). This should then be intuitive to the many PC users. The application do, however carries some added features that allows users to add some styling effects such as bullet points, certain coloring and the regular bold, italics, underline and strikethrough features.

This is a simple application that fulfills a simple need. Its clean, minimistic design and finger-friendly icons gives itself a certain appeal. If you are into note-taking, then this application has almost everything you will need. That being said, if you’re accessing this application through your Samsung Omnia, chances are, the keyboard will be the only thing that stands in the way of you enjoying the application.

Features

  • You may perform copy, paste, delete and rename on folders and files
  • You may add styling effect to your notes including bulletin points, color as well as the regular font styling
  • Finger-friendly menu icons

Note: Color selection and Home directory is only available on the Pro version. Everything else should be available through the Free version.

Pros

The extended features with a low usage on memory and all that is mentioned in the Features section.

Cons

The lack of clarity in its design

Should I get it?

If you’re into note-taking, this might be your new found love. Get it, its still free!
