DIY Mouse Cursor for your WM Device
After finding life in the use of mouse-cursor on Samsung Omnia where a variety of up to 24 mouse cursor are available for your choosing, we were curious if you can actually customize it further by making one yourself. An user from Samsung-Omnia seem to have found the way around it. Now anything is possible, Mickey Mouse, Kobe Bryant, Hello Kitty? Yes, yes and…yes.
Here are the steps to get started:
- Download this image
- Make changes to the mouse cursor
- Rename your newly customized cursor (instruction below)
- Move it into your Mobile Device /Windows folder
- Perform registry edits to change your mouse cursor (*)
Things to note:
- The pink color is equivalent to transparency on your mobile device
- The top left hand corner that the cursor is pointing will be where you clicks
- *When editing the registry’s value data, always choose one number down from the CursorShape ID you have named
How to rename customize cursor:
All the mouse cursor in the /Windows folder shares similar filename such as 01_pointer_xx_2.bmp where xx equals the CursorShape ID. Since there are a total of 24 default mouse cursors, you will probably have to start from the number 25 and onwards.
Other Possibilities:
If you prefer, you can use any icon that you are already using on your desktop and name it accordingly (as a bitmap) and add pink background to indicate areas of transparency.
That’s it! You can now equip your Samsung Omnia with mouse cursors that you have either hand-picked or hand-made! Have fun on your Omnia’s DIY project!
