Note: This application requires the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 to run.
If you don’t already have it, you can download the .NET CF 2.0Â here.
How are you doing with your default Task Manager? Are you trying to manage it like you would to your PC? Do you feel something’s amiss? While the default Task Manager installed on your Windows Mobile device is fairly useful when it comes to simple functionality, you are kept away from looking at the running processes, or an overview of the device’s performance. Advance Task Manager (the same developer who developed ACT!) is a very useful tool to fulfill these roles.
Installation
Simply install the downloaded cab file onto your device.
Design
When you launch the Advanced Task Manager (ATM, Â don’t you just love the acronomys), you will feel quite at home with the design. The design uses the default Windows Mobile interface which is the replica of the Windows desktop OS.
Going through the different tabs, you get a clear picture of what is running on your system. If you have a taskbar, you can minimize the application with the ‘Minimize’ button.
Other added feature can also be found by clicking on ‘Menu’.
Usability
The application runs very smoothly, and understandably so with the lack of graphics in its design.
You can go through all of the 4 tabs with ease, just like you would on the default Windows Mobile Settings. The Applications and Processes tabs shows real-time running tasks. You can easily end these tasks (Note: some process may be critical to the running of the system, be cautious when ending processes)
Features
- Real time monitoring
- Lists active applications
- Lists active processes
- Information about active applications and processes
- Close/close all applications
- Physical/virtual/storage/storage card memory usage
- Run application/Suspend/Reset from menu
- Automatically minimized to tray bar

Pros
- You can better monitor and manage the applications and proccesses that’s running on your device
- Simple snapshot of the memory status on the device
- You can ‘Run’ application like you would on your desktop PCs
Cons
- I would love to have an improved interface, but it’s certainly not a critical factor
Should I get it?
Every application you choose to install on your device will be taking up memories, so choose wisely. Now this application is certainly helpful to those who want to be able to monitor and manage their device’s memory more efficiently. If that’s you, this application can be your new best friend.
