Samsung Omnia Fix: Remove Pop-up Overlay during Calls
Posted Under: Download, Tips, Tweaks and Settings, Utility

The default Auto Lock that had become a nuisance to some users.
Has this ever happened to your Samsung Omnia? After making a phone call, the screen is locked and the only way to unlock it is to “Press the Action key…” And in the case of voice-mail or any other touch tone based calls, the auto lock becomes a hassle. I can already hear people screaming for help to deal with this issue.
We have gathered some resources from various sites and forums, including pocketnow and ModDaCo. And to save you the time and trouble of digging through these pages, we have compiled a list of ways you can resolve this issue:
- Change the phone dialer’s skin:
If you don’t mind changing to a different dialer skin, you can simply perform a registry edit. - Download a patch:
Paul from MoDaCo provided a patch where you can install onto your device. And upon reboot, you will find that the ever-haunting pop-up overlay is gone![Patch can be found and downloaded here. Registry/Login to MoDaCo may be required.]
- Write a script:
If you are capable of writing script (and know what is going), you may want to consider writing up this script and placing it in your device to disable the pop-up from appearing.

After: The default Samsung dialer skin is disabled.
Basically, you are going to make some registry change that involves this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled
And you are changeing the value data from ‘1′ to ‘0′.
[More information about the change can be found here.]
That’s all you need to do. These 3 simple solutions are applicable to either group of people – those who would prefer a different dialer skin; those who are willing to install a patch and not mess with the registry settings; and certainly those who are capable of understanding and writing script to modify how the system runs.
Either way, do enjoy these fixes and feel free to let us know if anything else about the Omnia is bothering you!
