Have you dreamed of a day where every possible settings are just one click away without the fuss of going through the same path of finding these settings? Well, my friend your patience has paid off with PocketToolman 2. And what a delightful package the application has came in!

Installation

Installation is easy – simply download the installation file (available in .cab and .zip format) from the developer’s page and place it in your device. One thing to note is that, from our experience the application should be installed on your device for it to work. Your experience may vary depending on the device (a limited number are tested).

Design

Once you start PocketToolman 2, you will see an icon on your system tray on the main screen (as shown here). Click on it to reveal the menu of options available to you from the application. There are no additional design to the menu listing. And as most of the Tools and Settings points to their default locations on the system, their design are original to the Windows Mobile device.

The Settings and Tools that are developed by PocketToolman 2 are fairly straightforward without much fancy designs. For instance, the OS Tweaks in Tools consists 6 pages of settings that will allow its user to make changes to both the appearance and internal functionality of the device.

With the focus in utility, I do appreciate its avoidance in making designs that will just end up being memory hogs.

Usability

Usability should be measured by intuition, such as whether getting to a certain function makes sense to the user. The user interface for PocketToolman 2 is fairly logical, starting from menu listing.

Settings and Tools have very useful options available to the user. While Settings consists default WM settings, Tools include features that are developed by PocketToolman (such as OS Tweaks, Data Connection). The rest of the options including Backlight, Memory, Power, Screen Off and Soft Reset are also just one-click away! Stuck? There’s a Help menu under Tools.

You’re covered in terms of knowing how to use the application.

Features

1,2,3…32! That’s the number of options PocketToolman 2 has placed in the little neat package that lies quietly in your WM’s system tray. Personally, its features certainly covers my needs. For example, I have been seeking a one-click Soft Reset option rather than having to go into an application to carry out the process. I also enjoy the option where you can choose to have certain Settings to be placed in the system tray, again convenience in one-click.

If you are seeking an All-In-One utility package, this is it!

Pros

  • The application is light, but well packed with essential settings for your daily needs
  • Settings covers your needs to change default system settings
  • Tools is like a bonus to your needs, giving you extension of convenience
  • Help menu will help you when you are unsure of what to do

Cons

  • With the lack in the numbers of devices tested, this application may or may not work on yours
  • In certain cases, the display height may exceed the height of your screen without scrolling aid

Should I get it?

Not your high-end visually enticing application, PocketToolman does however delivers features that should “hit–the-spot” for your utility needs. If your device meets the minimum requirement of PocketToolman 2, I cannot find any reason for you not to install it.

There is a list of features for the PocketToolMan 2 and you can find it here.
