Applications on Samsung Omnia
We are truly thankful for the many forum and discussion groups out there that contribute to building up the Samsung Smartphones’ knowledgebase. Samsung Omnia forum is certainly one of them.

Today, we would like to highlight one of the threads from Samsung Omnia’s forum addressing the topics of applications that can’t work on the Samsung Omnia. Feel free to email us for any additional items!
- The built-in camera on the front only serves as a video call camera and cannot be used to capture pictures.
- While there might be a variety of settings for the 5.0 Megapixel cameras, the settings for Contrast, Sharpness, Saturation and WDR cannot be saved. These settings reset to default settings each time you exit the camera program.
- Holding the End Call key for about 5 seconds will lock all the buttons and the touch screen except the volume up and down buttons, and the optical mouse.
- The ringtone during incoming call will initially start soft for about 3 seconds before gradually ascend in volume.
- Samsung Omnia version 1.36 and after can now play rmvb, avi and divx movie format videos that can only be played previously on 3rd party players.
- The standard Samsung Widget, Samsung Today 1 cannot be downloaded or modified as they are FW upgrades. There is Samsung Today 2 which is available for download.
- While the items on the Samsung Widget’s left panel cannot be modified or deleted, they can be moved around to change the order.
- The alarm will not work if the power of the phone is turned off. Otherwise, it will still work in power saving mode.
- The equalizer for the Touch Player is only enabled with the headset plugged in. The same applies for the built-in FM Radio.
- The Samsung Omnia cannot yet be connected to PS3.
- If you have any pre-installed text for SMS, they cannot be modified or deleted.
- The location of files received through Bluetooth cannot be changed.
In conclusion, while some of the Samsung Omnia’s settings cannot be changed, the Windows Mobile 6.1 device still has a lot of room for customization including the installation of 3rd party to enhance your Samsung Smartphone user experience.
