Here are a few applications that every Samsung BlackJack owner should try at least once for their phone. These applications are all free and all do an excellent job for their purposes. In no particular order, we have:
- Â Â Google Maps Mobile
- Â Â Smart ToolKit
- Â Â Weather Watcher Mobile
With Google Maps, you have a handy little program that shows your current location by mobile towers or GPS. You can select start and end points on the map then get directions to guide you step by step to your destination or type in the addresses. Enhanced by the GPS capabilities of the BlackJack II, you won’t be lost for long with this handy little program. Not to mention, you can zoom in so far that you can practically make out models of cars with the satellite view (always a nifty feature).
Smart ToolKit is a start menu mod for Windows Mobile devices. It changes the default Start menu on the BlackJack to one much more compact and Windows-like. Anything you could access on the default start menu can be selected through Smart ToolKit. You can modify the quick launch menu, which is the first screen you see when pressing activating the Start Menu, so you can have swift access to the apps or files you need when you need them. It also has an Auto Keylock feature which locks the keypad after a certain amount of inactivity. My only qualm with this program is that sometimes it will unload itself from memory, and will revert back to the default BlackJack start menu.
Weather Watcher Mobile gives you the power of a weather station at your fingertips. Reading in weather data from The Weather Channel, it gives you the latest forecasts with detailed information and alerts up to 10 days in advance. Although weather conditions can change by the second, I’ve found that this application does a good job of accurately predicting forecasts. It’s also a great application if you wish to conserve data usage or don’t have a plan. Simply plug your BlackJack into a computer via USB and select update for the city you want. Presto, now you have the weather forecast for the next 10 days.Â
